2010 Detroit Sinks Their Teeth Into a Post Season Run | clydea1jensen's Blog

Believe it or not, the Detroit Tigers are actually winning baseball games. Not only winning, but actually doing so quite well. Now this is far from a perfect season for them, but they have improved on their performance from last season. This is saying something as any improvements are appreciated when you are talking about the Detroit Tigers. This team can go from great to jeez in a matter of innings.

Halfway to a Championship

So far the team has left a mark on the world of baseball. They are sitting in the driver seat as they have knocked out 55 games of their season, and are in second place in their division. This is about as good as it could get. They are sitting a mere three and a half back from the Twins and are hoping to close that gap by the All-Star Break. If they are able to do this, then when it comes time for the second half of the season, they could begin a run for the post season in first place. This would be the preferred place for them to be as then it would be up to them how the rest of the season went.

Swing Batter, Batter Swing

For the past few years, the fans have all wondered, where is the hitting power? This question seems to be answered as this has been a powerful season for the Detroit tigers. There are more hits per at bat than in previous years combined, all of this hitting power, seems to have left the pitchers of opposing teams a little shocked as to where is all of the hitting power coming from? The bats are being lit up on a regular basis every time that they take the plate, there are several different reasons for this, and the most common is that the team is just that good in 2010.

Pitching the Basic to any Good Team

In order to have a chance at winning games, you need to make sure that you have the kind of talent that will deliver that. The bullpen for the tigers is in a position that they will be able to deliver the best possible games that they can. There are two sides to any good team, and the pitching department of the Tigers has gotten a little bit of a bad reputation in the past. When the Tigers are losing it is the Pitchers fault, when they win, it is because of the power at the plate. A team is only as good as the two parts that make it up.

The second half of the season will be up to the Tigers, it will be their decision as to where does the rest of the season head. If they are looking for a championship, then they will need to stay on the road they are on. If the objective is to just improve on last season's record, then they need to make it a point to win games and not lose their focus, either way this will be a great second half of the season for the Detroit Tigers.
